I freaking love Florida! the best and strangest stories come from here! I feel so blessed that I chose to publish Floriblog.com! There seems to be a never ending occurrence of shall we say “strange shit” to report.
According to the Miami Herald a naked man decided to go to an exit ramp an eat another guys face. ( and no I can not even try to make this stuff up) This unique appetite was observed by a person who thought this was a little off kilter and decided to ask the police what they thought of this. The police seemed to think this act ranked highly on the overall “this shit is weird” scale. Giving it s six bullet rating to be exact.
After asking the hungry individual to refrain from his “lunch” the officer decided it was in the meals best interest that he empty a clip into the hungry guy. This is truly amazing to me and this all took place within view of the Miami heralds security cameras.
Police are reviewing the footage and the entire story can be seen here
Thanks to Twitter Follower @8rustystaples who brought my attention to the story that was automatically posted here.
Jacksonville Florida. (Floriblog) A Duval county judge has sentenced Marissa Alexander to 20 years in prison for firing a warning shot after her ex-husband threatened to kill her.
At the time, Alexander had already taken out a protective order against her ex-husband earlier that year when he was arrested for physically abusing her.
A fight started in the couples bedroom, and Marissa Alexander decided to stand her ground and retrieved a gun. She then fired a single warning shot into the couples kitchen ceiling.
Alexander was arrested and subsequently charged and convicted on three counts of aggravated assault after firing a warning shot at her ex-husband inside their home in August 2010.
Alexanders attorney, Kevin Cobbin, wanted a new trial based on Florida’s Stand Your Ground law and said that it should have applied in this case.
Judge Daniel denied the motion and imposed the mandatory sentence.
After the hearing, Cobbin said the Stand Your Ground law is not always applied fairly.
“The law was made for people like Ms. Alexander. They did not make it for people running around on the streets shooting people. They made it for women in their homes trying to defended themselves against abusive, mean men,” said Cobbin.
Apparently a jury felt she committed a domestic battery on him by leaving the main portion of the house (to the garage) and returning.
Alexander was offered a three year plea deal which she turned down.

Actually Mr President, I could not ever say for sure since I have not really tried that. It seems to me, that would need a very long cooking process and a lot of added flavor. But to each his own.
I searched cook-this and could not find a good recipe for how to make that. Perhaps you could share yours.
Personally I like my dogs to be corn-dogs or smothered in chili and cheese. Actual dogs are not something I have tried, I can not wrap my head around that. I can only imaging the taste.
That takes me back to a conversation I had with a guy about twenty years ago who was relaying a story about his squirrel hunting brother. He asked what a squirrel tastes like. His brother pondered the question for a moment and gave the smart ass reply one would never expect. Kind of like a cat!
So Mr President. Do tell. What exactly does a Pit bull taste like?
With so many people and such weirdness in the sunshine state I thought it a good Idea to replace the state bird (Northern Mockingbird) with My choice. The News Chopper.
First of all, no disrespect to the freaking dumb ass selection of the Northern Mocking Bird. (obviously some smoke or drink was involved in that decision) But really WTF? with flamingos and cranes etc. Who the hell decided that?
I get news (it’s what I do) I love it when a major station sends “the bird” to get an overhead view. We all get a birds eye view of exactly what carnage was left. Kind of like an expensive buzzard awaiting the wolf to finish and leave.
With so many people creating newsworthy events In the land of warm days and uncovered butts, an airframe and power-plant FAA certified mechanic can only be loving life.
So right here and now I nominate the news helicopter as the official state bird. any objections?
That headline makes no difference in many minds. Why? Many people don’t seem to care what the jury thinks. Regardless of the outcome some of you have already made up your mind.
Think about it. Were you following Casey Anthony? what did you think of the outcome? Do you disagree with it? What about OJ Simpson? did you have a preconceived opinion?
In all reality George Zimmerman will never live a moment of his life without many having the pre-concieved consideration that he was guilty.
Should he be found not guilty he will still live with the knowledge that many people will feel he was. That this world takes the view of Guilty by reason of charge will continue and while right or wrong People will always have those thoughts.
Hopefully those of you who have made up your mind will never find yourself in that predicament. If you ever do just remember what got you there.
Every action has a reaction. and it isn’t always the one you expect.
Over the years I have seen a lot of stuff. An episode of cops actually ended up causing life changing events for me because I was so disgusted that I had nothing better going on that Saturday. Hearing “bad boys” set me in motion to get the hell out of my house and go do something.
On to the story. On several occasions I have seen the repeated show of cops where a Ford Explorer had rolled over and with about 20 or so police cruisers around it was being up-righted for its tow to the impound yard or wherever.
The story goes like this. A well intentioned cop decided that it was in the public’s best interest to pursue this vehicle through a city at a high rate of speed and continue the chase to its ultimate conclusion. (The vehicle crashing)
What makes this story interesting and stupid as well is the fact that the producers of cops chose to include the Captains interview with the officer who gave chase. He proudly proclaimed that he initiated a stop based on the tag light being burned out.
So I gotta wonder. When is it wise to chase a tag light out offender through a city? Obviously this offender had a lot more going on (allegedly) but you have to wonder. In these cases what is really going on in the cops mind?
What is amusing to watch though. is the clearly illuminated tag of the vehicle as they roll it back on its wheels. The light was working just fine. What a danger to socoiety he posed! So thankful this very observant officer got such a vicious offender off the streets.
This is a post that Brian Beckman put on his personal Facebook page. It has quickly gathered national attention and earned him a date with his bosses to decide his future as a career firefighter.
Personally I do not know what actually took place that night, only two people really do and one of them will never tell.
However a nation struggling with so many other issues is now taking sides in the latest battle of what is being described as a hate crime.
The only winner in this battle of Florida’s latest National Headline seems to be Casey Anthony who I am sure is glad to be out of the Florida spotlight for the moment.
OK enough babble. So what does this really say about the state of social media? It says bite your tongue. What you and a bunch of other people may be thinking might not impress your boss.
Fortunately for me my boss is a complete dips**t and an ass-wipe. (btw I am self employed.) However when did it become taboo to express your opinion? I think we started giving up our freedoms in bulk on or about September 12 2001. (Oh yeah I almost forgot that was not ever going to affect us as a free nation. But I digress)
When governments censor their employees that sets a precedent. I don’t care what or how insulting what you have to say is, you have a fundamental right to say those things. Porn sites have fought to get their images online and have seemed to have won. (uh….. hang on I got to clear my browsing history now) It’s a constitutional thing.
So right or wrong keep the posts coming and don’t ever let them take that away. Freedom of speech is your right as an American. I will cover all angles of this story so stay tuned.
This is getting pretty redundant. All the really High profile cases coming out of Florida. Not that I have a problem with it. After all being the Florida news tweet site we are, it does not suck….
Anyway Casey Anthony can only be breathing a sigh of Florida relief ever since the now famous George Zimmerman has taken the Florida’s most hated scumbag crown away from her.
We will be covering this story extensively till some other scumbag arrives on the Florida scene and totally is more popular than the current scum-bucket.
Ahh I feel better now! So if you’re fixing to mess up, remember Florida is a good place to do that, BTW We have a Virginia website now too. Just saying.
I have had my floriblog news service running for about a week now. From time to time I like to look in on the Twitter account and follow new followers as well as look in on the @ connect link to see what is new there.
Today I noticed that
@visitlauderdale had favorited one of my tweets. I was curious so I visited the tweet and it was this fantastic story about a Ft Lauderdale tweeter who takes amazing sunrise photos and puts them up on twitter.
Building this awesome news machine has taught me a lot of things, but I never expected it would actually teach me that my work can truly pass on a little sunshine and brighten someones day.
I hope this continues. There are a lot of headlines I would rather not read but this one is such a joy that I will follow and keep it.
I just made VaNewsLive.com and it has a twitter account. I cant wait to get a similar experience there.
